Mock Meet Info - RSVP by Sunday at noon!
Hi Hammerheads,
Our first meet of the season is coming up on Tuesday, June 2nd! This is a mock meet, meaning we are not actually competing against another swim team. We will simulate the experience to help everyone know what to expect during official meets. Coaches will also use swimmers’ times to help inform lineups for the rest of the season.
Please check now to make sure you have RSVP’ed for this meet. Coaches will be creating lineups, so we need to know whether your swimmer will be attending by Sunday at noon.
Where: Carpenter Village Pool
When: Swimmers should arrive by 4:45pm to check in. Warmups will begin at 5pm. The meet will start at 6pm, and we will use the time in between for a volunteer orientation and a team photo at 5:45pm.
Theme: Superheroes! 🦸
Each home meet this season will have a theme, and swimmers are welcome to wear costumes over their bathing suits. Parents and family members - this includes you, too! We can’t wait to see everyone’s superhero spirit this Tuesday.
What to wear/bring:
Swimmers (consider labeling all items with your swimmer’s name):
- Team swimsuit, swim cap, goggles
- Two towels (one to sit on and one to dry off with)
- Water and any desired snacks or drinks
- Something to do while waiting to swim, if desired (books, handheld card games, friendship bracelets, etc.)
Parents:
- Water and any desired snacks or drinks
- Consider bringing a chair. Some pool chairs will be used for swimmer lineups, so if you want a guaranteed comfy place to sit, bring one!
Concessions:
Concessions will be available if you don’t want to worry about packing dinner! We will have pizza, Chick-fil-A, snacks, drinks, ice cream, and Italian ice. Selling concessions is one way we raise money for the team, so thank you for your support!
Volunteers:
If you are volunteering for this meet, you will receive a confirmation email from Emily Wallace, our Volunteer Coordinator, on Sunday with your arrival time and general responsibilities.
Leaving the Meet:
If your swimmer has finished all of their events, it is absolutely fine to leave the meet before it ends. However, please double-check with your swimmer’s kid pusher first to confirm that they are truly done for the evening. During swim meets, it can be very confusing when a swimmer unexpectedly leaves before all events are complete.
Last-Minute Changes:
If your schedule changes or your swimmer gets sick after you have already committed to the meet, please, please, please let us know! If it’s before the meet, you can email [email protected]. If it happens during the meet, please get in touch with Coach Dylan or Melissa Grosso, our Team President.
Last-minute changes can have a big impact on relays and event lineups, so we really appreciate prompt communication.
After the Meet:
It is a Hammerheads tradition to gather after home meets for ice cream! Mi Cancun will be hosting us this season and will provide free ice cream and popsicles to all Hammerheads swimmers - including fried ice cream upon request! (We used to meet at Dairy Queen, but DQ is unfortunately going out of business).
Before you depart the pool, please clean up your space (and swimmer’s space!)
Questions? Please feel free to reply to this email, or email [email protected].
