The Meet News: What to know about Tuesday’s meet

Hi Hammerheads,

This is a friendly reminder to RSVP for Tuesday’s meet no later than Sunday, June 7th at noon. You will also find information below about the meet.

Don’t forget, it you miss the deadline to declare your swimmer as Attending or Not Attending, or if you need to make changes after the deadline, contact our Coach Liaison, Steve Grosso at 919-219-7474, and include your name and your swimmer's name in the message.

Location:

Our second meet will be Tuesday, June 9th against The Reserve Stingrays. It is an away meet, but we are not traveling far: the pool address is 101 Edgemore Ave, Cary 27519 - a mere 10 minutes from Carpenter Village.

Parking:

Parking is limited at the Reserve, and they encourage carpooling if possible. Once the parking lot is full, you may park along the street. You can park on either side of the street, but not in the cul-de-sacs. Please do not park within 50 feet of any stop sign and don't block driveways at all possible.

Pool Specifics:

The Reserve has a small pool deck, so the seating for all swimmers age 7 & older will be outside the pool gate area in the grass. Bring chairs, blankets, bug spray, etc. to keep your family comfortable during the meet. 6 & under swimmers can be on the pool deck with their kid pushers or parents. There will be limited seating for some of our team parents on the pool deck on the 3 ft. end of the pool, but it’s smart to at least have chairs ready in your car.

The Reserve pool is fully lit, but their team is very similarly sized to ours (they have 72 swimmers), so it shouldn’t be too late of a night.

What Time to Arrive:

Please have your swimmer arrive by 5:15pm to get checked in and ready for warm-ups which will begin at 5:30pm. The meet will begin promptly at 6:00pm.

Volunteers:

You will be receiving a confirmation volunteer email from Emily Wallace, our Volunteer Coordinator on Sunday. This will include your arrival time. There will be a volunteer meeting prior to the meet at 5:45pm at the starting block end of the pool near the announcer's table. This will be for TSA representatives, starters, stroke and turn judges, place judges, runners, timers, and clerks of course. After the general meeting, timers, stroke and turn judges will break away for specific instructions.

Coaches/Parents Relay:

The Reserve is open to having a Coach/Parent relay if time allows. Please text our Coach Liaison if you are interested (Steve Grosso at 919-219-7474), and bring or wear your bathing suit! Coach/Parent relays usually take place after the breaststroke, weather permitting.

Concessions:

The Reserve has a full concession stand at the meet including Chick-Fil-A sandwiches, pizza, chips, candy, and drinks. They accept credit cards or cash.

Photos from Mock Meet:

We are fortunate to have a swim parent and CV neighbor who is an extremely talented photographer. Christina Haisty took photos at the Mock Meet, and you can find them here. Check them out and download any that you’d like to keep!

Team Photo:

Our team photo (a smiley version and a goofy version) are posted on our Facebook page. These were taken by Annie Kimura, a CV neighbor and Hammerheads sponsor who offers professional photography services, including family photos, senior photos, maternity shoots, and headshots. Please check out Annie’s page and consider supporting her if you are looking for a professional photographer!
